本作には、通常の倍以上となる約50mmの厚みを持つ、特殊な木製キャンバスを使用しております。この存在感ある佇まいそのものが、作品の一部となっています。
「Drop」シリーズは、さまざまな「水滴」を抽象的に表現したシリーズです。制作を重ねる中で、背景そのものが持つ豊かな表情と美しさに気づき、背景を主役に据えたシリーズとして生まれました。
「水滴」をモチーフに選んだのは、その小さな一粒が持つ、壮大な旅への想いからです。一滴の水は、やがて大河となり、海へと還ります。そして蒸発し、雲となり、雨となり、再び水滴として大地に降り注ぐ。この完全なる循環の神秘と力強さを、アートとして身近に感じていただける作品を目指しました。
This work is painted on a special wood canvas of exceptional depth — nearly 50mm thick, more than twice the standard. The canvas itself stands as a physical presence, a sculptural object before a single brushstroke is considered.
The Drop Series was born from an unexpected discovery. In the process of creation, Yoshikazu KAJIKAWA found himself captivated by the backgrounds — their texture, their atmosphere, their quiet beauty. And so the background became the protagonist. What surrounds the subject is the subject.
At the heart of this series is water — a single drop. Something so small it disappears in the palm of your hand, yet something that carries within it the memory of oceans. One drop becomes a stream, a river, a sea. It rises as vapor, gathers as cloud, falls as rain, and returns once more to earth as a single, perfect drop. This is a cycle with no beginning and no end — a loop of life so vast and so complete that it humbles everything within it.
Through his signature technique, Semi 3D Yoshikazu Artworks, KAJIKAWA renders this invisible cycle visible — abstract in form, yet immediate in feeling. This is a work that invites you not merely to look, but to remember: that every drop of water has traveled the entire world to reach you.
