蟹をよく見ると、不思議な形をしていますね。
🦀カニも10本足8本足と種類がいます。
それは生物学上の違いがあり分別されています。
8本足は「ヤドカリ」の分類になります。
調べれば知ればるほど、ネタの多い生物です。
そんな蟹は縁起の良い生き物とされています。
東洋でも西洋でも表現され方が様々ありますが、
良い意味合いがあるのが面白いですね。
今回は久しぶりに「crab series」を制作する機会があり描き上げました。
蟹で「花咲蟹」という赤色でトゲトゲで、北海道特産の美味しいカニがいます。
それでふと思いました。「花咲」という文字と音が綺麗だ。
綺麗なのでアレンジをして描こうと。
そして「花が咲いた状態の蟹」をイメージすることができました。
よって『花咲く蟹』が出来上がりました。
今回の花は古くから神聖な植物とも言われ、縁起の良い「蓮」とたっぷりと用いた、
水辺の植物と掛け合わせて描きました。

Their forms are quite the marvel, aren’t they?
You’ll find a delightful variety, some sporting ten legs, others a more modest eight. This, of course, is all down to the fascinating nuances of biology. Those with eight legs,
you see, fall under the charming category of ‘hermit crabs.’
The deeper you delve into their world, the more captivating tidbits you’ll uncover.
Crabs, it turns out, are often seen as harbingers of good fortune. It’s rather intriguing how both Eastern and Western traditions weave positive narratives around them, albeit in their own distinct ways.
Recently, I had the pleasure of revisiting my ‘Crab Series’ after a considerable hiatus. There’s a particular crab, the ‘Hanasaki crab,’ a spiky, crimson treasure from Hokkaido, known for its delectable taste. The name itself, ‘Hanasaki,’ meaning ‘flower bloom,’ struck me with its sheer poetic beauty. This inspired me to embark on an artistic journey, envisioning a crab in a state of floral efflorescence, culminating in my piece, ‘Blooming Crab.’
For this creation, I chose to incorporate the ‘lotus,’ a flower steeped in ancient sanctity and considered a symbol of good omen, alongside other aquatic botanicals.
