かねてよりご要望をいただいておりました昆虫を題材に、今回は日本のカブトムシを制作いたしました。
昆虫の身体表現は非常に難しい課題でしたが、独自の**半立体色彩画（ヨシカズ画法）**によって、その力強さと生命感を表現いたしました。
昆虫の姿は、武者の甲冑を彷彿とさせます。よって、背景に配した「日の丸」は、戦国時代の張り詰めた空気と勇壮な精神をイメージしております。たくましく、誇り高き日本の時代の象徴として描きました。
また、戦国の花として「白梅」を添えております。桜よりも花びらが厚く、香りも力強い梅の花は、凛として美しく、戦国を生きた武人の魂にふさわしい花であると考えました。
カブトムシの角は、しっかりと浮き上がるよう立体的に表現しております。ぜひ、側面からもご覧いただけますと、この作品の奥行きと迫力をより一層お楽しみいただけます。
Responding to long-standing requests to explore the world of insects, Yoshikazu KAJIKAWA presents this striking portrayal of the Japanese rhinoceros beetle — one of nature’s most formidable creatures.
Capturing the complex anatomy of an insect posed a profound artistic challenge. Through his signature technique, Semi 3D Yoshikazu Artworks — a distinctive method of semi-dimensional painting that builds form and color into sculptural relief — KAJIKAWA brings the beetle’s raw power and vitality to vivid, tactile life.
The beetle’s silhouette evokes the armor of a samurai warrior. Set against a bold crimson circle — the Hinomaru, Japan’s iconic symbol of the sun — the composition breathes the fierce, uncompromising spirit of the Sengoku Period: Japan’s age of warring states, a time defined by courage, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of honor.
As the flower of the Sengoku era, white plum blossom (Hakubai) adorns the beetle’s body. Unlike the delicate, ephemeral cherry blossom, the plum flower is bold and enduring — its petals thick, its fragrance deep and powerful. It is a flower that mirrors the soul of the warrior: beautiful, yet unyielding.
