〈鼻の上に何かシリーズ〉
鼻の上に何かが乗っている――それだけで、思わずクスッと笑えて、肩の力がふっと抜けてしまいます。
この小さな“ズレ”や“ギャップ”が、日常にほんのりとした楽しさを運んできてくれるのです。
本作の主役は、堂々たる虎。
百獣の王と称されるその威厳は、古くから力強さや勇気の象徴として語られてきました。
…そんな虎の鼻の上に、まさかの「具だくさんフルーツクレープ」が鎮座！
強靭で勇ましい虎と、ふわふわ甘いクレープという正反対の存在が同じ画面で“仲良く”まとまることで、どこか平和的で、ほっとする空気が生まれます。甘いスイーツの存在が、さらに優しい余韻を添えてくれます。
制作では、とくにクレープ生地の表現に頭を悩ませました。
素材感を再現するために、これまで培ってきた技法を組み合わせ、質感のレイヤーを丁寧に積み重ねています。
具材のフルーツも細密に描き分け、キウイは種まで、イチゴは繊維まで、バナナは柔らかいグラデーションまで追求しました。
そして、意外にも最もリアルに仕上がったのが「ブルーベリー」。
ベリー特有の、うっすら白みを帯びたロウのような質感を再現できたときは、思わず「やった！」と声が出るほどでした。
小さな一粒ですが、じつは作品の隠れた見どころかもしれません。甘さと強さが出会う、ちょっと不思議で心が和む世界を楽しんでいただければ幸いです。
“Something on the Nose” Series
There is something irresistibly charming about placing an unexpected object on an animal’s nose.
That tiny moment of mismatch—of playful misalignment—softens the viewer’s gaze and brings a gentle, spontaneous smile. It is precisely this subtle “gap” that adds a quiet sense of delight to everyday life.
In this piece, the protagonist is a majestic tiger.
Long revered as the “king of beasts,” the tiger has stood throughout history as a symbol of strength, dignity, and courage.
…and yet, resting atop its proud nose is an unlikely guest: a fruit-loaded crepe.
The pairing of a powerful, fearless tiger with a soft, fluffy, sweet dessert creates a peaceful, almost heartwarming harmony within the composition. The gentle presence of the dessert adds a tender, sweet afterglow to the scene.
During the creation process, the expression of the crepe itself posed the greatest challenge.
To capture its delicate texture, I layered multiple techniques I have cultivated over the years.
Each fruit was painted with precise attention to detail—kiwi seeds, the fine fibers of strawberries, and the soft gradients of banana slices.
Surprisingly, the element that turned out the most realistic was the blueberry.
When I finally succeeded in capturing that faint, waxy bloom unique to berries, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Yes!”
It may be just a tiny fruit, but it is one of the hidden highlights of the work.
I hope you enjoy this gently whimsical world, where sweetness and strength meet in an unexpected and soothing harmony.
